Dear All,

ACM SIGGRAPH Singapore Chapter Tour to Thailand, September 2006

Introduction:
Following our very memorable & successful ACM SIGGRAPH Singapore Chapter Tour to Malaysia in 2005, we immediately started preparation for the ACM SIGGRAPH Singapore Chapter Tour to Thailand, September 2006. This tour is supported by the ACM SIGGRAPH Bangkok Chapter which has formed a committee to look into preparations to make this Tour a success.

ACM SIGGRAPH Singapore Chapter plans to make these tours an annual event usually timed in September to coincide with the local Universities term break. We are planning for 2007 & 2008 tours to Jakarta & Manila.

We welcome all who are interested in Computer Graphics & Interactive Technologies to join our tour. You must sign up as our member to go. (Membership is S$30 per annum).

Objectives:
Networking, exchange of information & knowledge, discussions for future activities. Promote membership for Bangkok & Singapore Chapters. Also some relaxation that is not too far away & not too expensive. Also we can include half day tour to selected sites of interest such as cultural or traditional markets. Last year, we went to Cyberview Lodge in CyberJaya for a pool-side barbecue.

Sites of visit:
Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), Thailand’s counterpart of Singapore’s MDA.
Thailand Creative Design Centre, a showcase of Thailand’s Creative Industry’s works.
Digital Arts Department, Sripatum University, Bangkok, Thailand

Accommodation:
3 Star hotels which are near to mass transit & also central to all sites that we are visiting.

Cost:
Includes transport to all planned destinations, lunch, breakfast & accommodation.
Twin sharing: TBA
Single supplement: TBA

Schedule:
26 to 29 September 2006. Minimum 3 days. Maximum 5 days.

Number of Visitors:
20 to 40 persons.

Organizer & Volunteers are:
Mr. Caleb Cheong, ACM SIGGRAPH Singapore Chapter
Mr Joseph Lum, Leapfrog Design
Dr Kamon Jirapong, Ph.D. Digital Arts Department, Sripatum University, Bangkok, Thailand
Santi, SIGGRAPH Bangkok Chapter

CONFIRMATION:
Please try to confirm your participation at the soonest also so I can do the bookings early. (Earlier means less expensive). Note that the number of seats in the tour bus in Bangkok will limit the seating, which is 40. Also if you wish to bring your spouse, please confirm.

I need your particulars such as DOB, Passport number, name as in passport, nationality & sex.

Payment & confirmation by June 2006.

Sponsorship:
We welcome sponsorship of all size. Last year we received sponsorship from ACA Pacific, Konica Minolta & Primedia Sdn Bhd in the form of gifts & meals.

What to sponsor? Welcome lunch, farewell dinner & entertainment, gifts.

Gift Exchange:
Gift exchange is to be prepared by Bangkok & Singapore Chapters for Speakers, Hosts & Volunteers.

Speakers & Presenters:
Those who wish to share their experiences or research or academic programs or show reels both professional & student may email to me. Presentations are limited to 15 mins max. & presenters will come together at end of talks to sit on Q & A panel. At the moment, the Singapore Contingent already has 2 member speakers plus our Management Keynote so we are filled out. Those from Singapore Side who still wish to be speakers will be put on standby list as replacement. Any suggestions are welcomed such as portable displays or exhibits which can be set up under 15 mins on a single table space. We may be able to get that done for you but you have to carry the stuff yourself & be responsible for it.

There will be Keynote Address by Heads of both Chapters.

Preparation & Action Plan:
I need relevant logos, graphics or images for participants & sponsors as the Bangkok Chapter will be putting up posters & info on their websites & newsletters. So the earlier the better. Bangkok Chapter is encouraged to get their participants to prepare early things like a small gallery, exhibition or gather a small selected group of students for interviews (highlighted student projects).

Media:
We welcome some media coverage especially from Student Bodies & local press.

Other Matters:
Other Societies that wish to participate may submit their intentions to me for further discussions.

I look forward to your early reply.

Thank you & best regards,

Mr Caleb Cheong
