Crescent Girls' School, as the South 2 Centre of Excellence for Creative Arts Education, will hold 1st Arts Awareness Week (AAW) from 23 August - 28 August 2003 (except Sun 24 Aug). The AAW is a special week-long celebration of the arts - recognising that the Arts is all around us and that, the Arts is for all! The theme of the upcoming AAW is 'Perspectives' - conjuring the many possible facets of how we view the arts around us. The guest-of-honour is Ms Indranee Rajah, MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC. 2. We are pleased that Siggraph (Singapore Chapter) is sponsoring a day's screening on the 23 Aug of the Best of ComGraph Animation short films. There will also be 2 talks on animation. 3. Categories of events during Arts Awareness Week include exhibitions, installations, performances, masterclasses, talks by speakers from different disciplines (e.g. art critic, theatre, music, product design), demonstrations, workshops and even arts excursions. There will also be an Arts Mart - of which the proceeds will go towards the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. The target audience for this unique arts outreach initiative is all South 2 Cluster schools', neighbouring primary schools, principals, teachers and parents, officials from MOE, NAC, the Tanglin community as well as other arts organisations and partners. 4. As Singapore moves forward in becoming a Renaissance City, Crescent, as a Centre of Excellence for Creative Arts Education, aims to play a significant role in helping to develop Singapore's future audience base via innovative arts outreach programmes. 5.
